BLOEMFONTEIN-Free State Sport Association For The Physically Disabled and Visually Impaired (FSSAPD) will behaving the wonderful privilege to present the 2018 South African Sports Association For The Physically Disabled (SASAPD) National Championships as from 28 March until 03 April 2018 around Bloemfontein.This was announced at the media launch which was also attended by local athletes that will be taking part in the championships.
The launch was held at Bon Hotel,Bloemfontein Central on Wednesday. One of the athletes Obed Lekhehle,a grade 12 learner at Hendrik Potgieter Landbouskool said on behalf of the competitors they shall take part in the games,respecting and abiding by the rules governing them,for the joy of participation,to the glory of sports and the glory of the country. President of SASAPD Moekie Grobelaar said:"a special welcome to all members and participants from countries beyond borders,it is the strong commitment and dedication to sports that we will all be gathered for this event for the third time in Bloemfontein
." "With all the remarkable accomplishments of 2016/17,we can stand in awe and dream as big as we can,knowing that dreams can come true.To each and every athlete and team player participating in the national championships,I would like to say ,stay focused,stay positive and give only your best and never give up,true sportsmanship starts now,here and within you,"said Grobelaar.
During the championships FSSAPD will be representing seven sporting codes including,para athletics,para cycling,Boccia,judo for the blind,para powerlifting,goalball for the blind and football.Athletes from Kenya,Namibia,Mauritius and Botswana are expected to be part of the event. "We have 790 athletes,350 coaches managers,care givers,helpers taking part.
To present this event it would not be possible without the local organising committee(LOC) that was willing to take up the challenge with and never said there is a problem,there were only challenges.Wiht proper planning and great inputs all the challenges were solved.It is great honour to represent the 2018 SASAPD national championships with a wonderful LOC that has stepped up to the challenge,"said chairperson of the SASAPD Jan Wahl. He concluded by conveying words of gratitude to the sponsors."To present this prestige event would have not been possible if it was not for all the sponsors that willing to come on board,"said Wahl.
