The battle for the Top-8 spot in the PSL standing promises fireworks when two mid-table teams clash this weekend at Dr Molemela Stadium.Bloemfontein Celtic and Amazulu are occupying position 9 and 10 respectively on the PSL – Absa Premiership log table and fighting to climb the Top-8 ladder.
However, Celtic’s profligacy in the final third against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday may come to haunt them when face an inspired Amazulu. The team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Pirates while Amazulu will be hoping to continue with their winning ways after beating Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday.
Celtic’s Assistant Coach, John Maduka yesterday acknowledged that his team cannot afford to lose another game if still aim at qualifying for Top-8 spot.“On Sunday we will be forced to attack and get goals and ultimately win. Yes, Amazulu have been doing well and their winning against Ajax on Tuesday has obviously inspired them but they will face a tough battle at Molemela Stadium, we cannot afford to lose another game at this crucial stage of the league,” said Maduka.
He further outlined that his charges are ready to fight especially in front of the home fans. “Against Orlando Pirates we played with determination and even after losing one player through red card our boys immensely showed signs of commitment and that is the spirit we want on Sunday. We will try and identify shortcomings experienced in that game and subsequently come up with a proper plan on how to tackle our next opponent. The sprit is still positive in the camp and that is what we need as technical team,” he said. Kick-Off is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday.
