Cheetahs focusing on themselves

The Toyota Cheetahs are not reading too much into their recent winning ways, with Francois Venter saying they are focusing more on themselves and less on what their opponents will be doing. Venter and co host the Ospreys in the fifth round of the on-going Guinness Pro14 clash in Bloemfontein at the back of a major win against Conference B third-placed, Leinster last week. The win (38-19), which was the Cheetahs’ second straight at home, moved them to the third spot with 10 points in four matches, having beaten the Zebre two weeks ago. With the team high in spirit, 'Swys' has called on his teammates to remain composed and ensure they keep doing things right. “I think the Ospreys are going to be a bit more relaxed with their experienced guys returning. And the execution of their plan is going to be sharp, more physical and it’s going to add a lot more value for them,” “But as for us, we need to focus on what we can do and everybody is just a normal player, and when we get out on that field, we must perform,” the captain told Dumelang Sport. His coach, Rory Duncan believes his men are on the right track as far as preparations are concerned ahead of what he described as a ‘tough battle’. “We’re confident in our preparations, confident in the fact that our preparations have gone well. We've put the necessary plans in place,"  “It’s always difficult to say you’re confident going into the match at this level because all the team we're playing against are extremely competitive. But we’re going to be up against a tough side this week.” The visitors al the way from Wales lie at the sixth spot with five points in the same conference, and will be seeking to bounce back following a loss to the Benetton Treviso in their recent encounter. “They extremely physical team; they've got some big ball carriers, they play a very good kicking game. I think the game we're going to get from these guys is similar to what we've got from the Irish sides that we've already played in this competition," he concluded.
