Hlasela TV interns scoop Satma award

In the recently held Satma Awards, the provincial television channel, Hlasela TV walked away with an award for the Traditional TV Program. The win came after the channel’s interns, Reabetswe Mabine and Nthabiseng Maleke displayed a splendid performance on the presentation of the showing which competed in the Golden Circle categories.
According to Hlasela TV’s Head of Production, Winnie Makhanya, it was the first project that the interns who have joined them in March this year worked on and it showed that they have put their energies in it.
“This was their first project and we gave them the opportunity to choose their favourite subject and they obviously chose the winning piece which we believe is what they knew they will master,” said Makhanya.
We received a call from the organisers of Satmas who asked us to submit an entry and we picked up this particular show because it had a traditional element in it that could easily impress the judges. Although we had some material that we have produced for the provincial government as their public information platform, we could not because it was not ours, so we decided to use what have produced independently,” she said.
One of the interns, Maleke, said the experience was awesome and it has been such a great learning curve for her as a young television personality.
“I must say that the team at Hlasela are a wonderful bunch of people who are easy to work with and I managed to exercise my craft in a good space,” she said.
Hlasela TV has been one of the platforms that the Free State government has had to communicate its messages to the broader community with ease as it is broadcasted in various public service outlets around the province through satellite.
