Lady poet celebrates her art DVD

She is a well known household name in the literature and poetry industry but she believes that being known is not enough, so she decided to celebrate her role in the industry through a live DVD.
Charmaine Kolwane Mrwebi from Thaba Nchu is set to launch her new offering on August 29 at Windmill Casino’s Diamond Lilly in Bloemfontein.
She said the project which she fondly calls “Poetry Jubilee” is a platform and program that showcases how performance poetry has been powerful in the Free State and continued to grow in leaps and bowns.
“This is to mark a milestone of over a decade as a poet because I want to capture where I started and what I am about.
As a poet, I need to redefine myself and to grow as an artist and personally. I also chose to do the DVD because I wanted to pause for a specific period of my life and focus on other things. The project is a celebration and a step into another decade as a poet,” she added.
The DVD is a collection of ten poems which mostly features those that she wrote and performed when she started her journey years ago, She also features other poets whom she calls “sisters and brothers of the word”.
