Listeners want Station manager out

Listeners of Motheo FM are gatvol and want the station manager Manko Tsoehlisi and Programme’s manager Puso Kgosinkwe replaced at the station.
In what they call ‘mismanagement and lack of direction’, the listeners said it has been a long time since they watched Motheo FM falling apart. They complained that the station did not have a land-line which would enable presenters to communicate with the listeners to share community news.
Presenters at Motheo FM have resorted to using their own cellphones whenever there are phone in programmes, a move that has irritated listeners as they cannot keep with so many phone numbers. Tshegang Marumo from Phase 2, Paballo Leeuw from Phase 5 and Mathabo Mphirine representing the listeners confronted Tsoehlisi on the challenges facing the station but instead of being answered the cops pounced on them whisking them away.
Marumo said they loved the station as it was a community station which is close to them and could not tune in to another station because of two people who running the station to the ground.
“We have been wondering from last year what was going on at the station when we heard that presenters were using their own cellphones to communicate with the listeners.
We were not told why a community station was taken away from the community to broadcast from town. We also want to know what happened to R200 000 that was given by Mayor Olly Mlamleli. We have not been told what the money did or was used for,” said Marumo.
She said the decisions were being made without the listeners being consulted with especially when presenters are rotated to do other shows. Marumo said many presenters have been working at the station without contracts, while others were not being paid.
