Long services employees awarded

Bloemfontein- About 77 long service employees who have shown dedication and commitment in their duties were honoured on Tuesday at Phillip Sanders Resort in Bloemfontein by the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. This year the department honoured and awarded certificates to 77 deserving employees for 10, 20,30 and 40 years of public service. Out of the 77 recipients,32 were honoured for serving  10 years,16 for 20 years,23 for 30 years and 6 for 40 years service. The recipients are a combination of senior managers, middle managers, junior staff as well as general workers. The celebration and acknowledgement of long service give expressing to the departmental values which include passion, people-centric, performance, proactive, integrity and innovation. It also shows the commitment of the "Batho Pele" principles which requires public servants to be polite, open and transparent and to deliver good service to the public.
Deputy Director General Tshepo Moremi said;’’As government, we acknowledge the long service of our colleagues and through the bargaining council, through employees representative and government discussions we decided that we are going to honour those that have made and contributed a long service for the government said Moremi.
‘’Today we are issuing the certificates to the following categories. We have 32 certificates that are going to be issued to the employees, that have completed 10 years of continues s service by the 2016-2017and 2017-2018 financial year.
We are celebrating two years of achievement. We are also going to issue 16 certificates to employees who completed 20 years. We are also going to issue 23 certificates to employees who have contributed 30 years. Then we have got 6 certificates for employees who completed 40 years continues to service,’’said Moremi.
This is the sixth year of hosting the long service awards ceremony. Our employees are the most important assets in the department. The employees that are receiving certificates are therefore acknowledged and commented on their loyalty hard work and their contribution towards the achievement of the more broadly effective service delivery said Moremi.
An employee who has rendered 20 years of continuous service shall be titled for a certificate and a cash amount of R 10 000.An employee who has rendered 30 years of continuous service shall be titled for a certificate and a cash amount of R20 000.
An employee who has rendered 40 years of continues service shall be in title to certificate and amount of R26 000 with the effect from 1 April 2017 said Moremi.
Rampime Hlapane the recipient of the award said;’’I started working in government in the department of education in 1987 and work as the asset clerk for 14 years. Then after 14 years, I was promoted to be an assistant director where I become assistant director for 4 years, and then I decided to work at the department of tourism in 2006 as the deputy director asset deposal and property management. I am so happy for this award and I would like to thank the department for honouring us today said Hlapne.
