BLOEMFONTEIN - “Entrepreneurship is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Take your time in finding exactly what you are passionate about and in time, you will succeed.”
These are the words of a lady of many talents, Matefo Morakeng. The author, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, radio talk show host, mentor and facilitator will be joining renowned Free State author and performing poet, Charmaine Mrwebi, in the first edition of Breakfast with an Author on Saturday 4 February at Coobah to discuss her second book, ‘The M (entorship) Word’ which aims to empower entrepreneurs to become the very best at what they do.
“I always advice entrepreneurs to align what they do as close as they can with their personalities, personal missions and visions, and it will never feel like a drag,” she explained. Matefo is also a founder of M3 Marketing which connects entrepreneurs with a number of companies, government departments and parastatals with the intention of assisting them to grow their sales and, in essence, their business. “I studied Public Relations and Journalism through Damelin and Unisa respectively,” she said.
With 12 years’ experience in marketing, communications and events management industries, Matefo was part of FIFAʼs Local Organising Committee (LOC) in 2009 and 2010 during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa before turning her focus on enterprise development through conferences and business seminars. “I host an annual Young Entrepreneurs Conference and Expo in Bloemfontein which brings together young entrepreneurs from across the province to connect, discuss, inspire and motivate each other,” she said.Matefo advises female entrepreneurs to remain true to their femininity regardless of the fact that they will be expected to act male.
