Needs of Leragswana community addressed

Nketoane Local Municipality took to the streets of Leratswana engaging with the community on issues of service delivery and how they can they serve their community better in an operation called Retswile Letsholo.
Lead by Mayor Mamiki Mokoena with all municipal officials and councillor, they embarked on reaching out to the communities which fall under their jurisdiction but cannot access the head office at ease.
The purpose of the operation was to seek to address challenges of service delivery faced by those in towns not close to its head office in Reitz. Operation Retswile Letsholo was also aimed at taking local government to the people and addressing some of the problems on spot.
In a meeting held at the Leratswana community hall, residents raised issues such as lack of sites, playgrounds and unemployment amongst others.
Some of the departments that formed part of the operation included GOTTA, health and land reform. The municipal department which briefed residents was a community and technical services.
"Most of our officials are located at headquarters in Reitz and are not accessible to residents from other towns, so we embarked on this operation to address to their problems. Being here you realise that some of the problems you can resolve at ease like creating space for playgrounds for children to play," said Mamiki Mokoena Mayor of Nketoane. Residents of Leratswana were also relieved to hear the announcement that the municipality was in talks with nearby farm owners to buy land for sites.
