Following their successful distribution of sanitary towels to girls in four different schools in the Bloemfontein area last year, the Hlasela TV crew is gearing up once again to make the world a better place this year. According to Winnie-Fred Makhanya who is the Head of Production at the free to view community channel, said they will be hosting an activation event today (Friday) from 10:00 to midday.
The campaign, which was championed by Revi Pillay, the director of the company will be held at the Heatherdale High School, Bloemfontein. She told Dumelang News that they have extended an invitation to various schools to participate in their latest youth driven activity. “We will host a motivational event targeting fifteen of your best achievers and fifteen of your under-achieving students.
The event aims to provide guidance from experts on the important role of education as well as future career prospects,” said Makhanya. She added that they will provide transport to and from the event as well as refreshments for the participating students. Schools that are expected to participate include amongst others Petunia High School, Sehunelo High School and Dr. Block High School. Makhanya said learners will be picked up at 09h00 and brought back to the school by 13h30.
Last the year, the initiative saw hundreds of sanitary towels distributed in schools in the Bloemfontein area and the organisers were looking into increasing the numbers with each event.
