Free State Stars and Bloemfontein Celtic are looking get their campaigns back on a winning track when they face off in an anticipated Free State derby to be played in Bethlehem on Saturday.Celtic will pay their neighbours a visit in search of maximum points as they seek not only to continue their winning momentum against their rivals, but regain their league form to keep their top eight aspirations alive.
Phunya Sele Sele, who occupy the ninth spot with 33 points, come from a 1-all stalemate with Amazulu and will look to make it two out two against Stars this season having won the reverse fixture 3-0 back in December 2017.The win was Celtic's first since last tasted one in February 2014 and they drew two and lost four of the six matches between the two before their last meeting.
On the other hand, Ea Lla Koto, who are keeping up with the top three sides, are a point away from the third spot. They would be disappointed to have dropped points in their last two matches after drawing 1-1 with Golden Arrows away and losing 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in their own turf. Stars will undoubtedly be seeking to redeem themselves and continue their quest to challenge for a better spot, and three points in the derby will move them to 41 and temporarily within the top three, depending on the results in other fixtures. Both sides have played 23 league matches thus far since the 2005/06 season, with Stars claiming nine victories and Celtic seven, with as many encounters ending in draws. Kick-off at the Goble Park is at 18:00.
