Young idealistic lad bags prestigious award

Welkom - Khauhelo Maruping is the managing director of Limali Business Solutions whose motivation to start a business at a young age came from his big brother after they noticed a dire need for internet and communication solutions in their community. He told Dumelang News that his brother approached him and encouraged him to venture into the establishment of an internet and communications company. Today, he is a proud award holder of the Free State Entrepreneur’s Awards that he won at the glittering event held in Welkom last week. “My business helped me to pay my university fees at the Central University of Technology Free State where I am studying towards an Information Technology diploma. I have been involved in many community development projects and also played an important role in my community through my intervention in these projects,” he said. Maruping was part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Parliament, through its initiative called Lejweleputswa Youth Entrepreneurship Support Initiative which recruited, trained and funded 15 youth-owned businesses in 2008. He is also engaged in artistic interventions that are meant to liberate and decolonize African youth minds in thinking differently about themselves and reviving the ancestral morals.  Besides being an MD at Limali Business Solutions, he is also a founding Chairperson of Bokamoso Information Centre and his responsibilities include personal and career development. This young entrepreneur believes that starting and running a successful business goes along with the idea you have as an entrepreneur, an idea that will not only be feasible but be able to satisfy a specific need.
He also mentioned that an idea goes along with an action. “You need to act on your idea so that it turns into a feasible and profitable business,” he said.
His long term goals include being an experienced and highly qualified Development Practitioner focusing on Youth, Entrepreneurship and Education. He also sees his business being one of the biggest and first film and TV Production companies in Africa producing Afrocentric content that is educational, entertaining, realistic and relating to African people. Winning an award was something he never expected.
